A no-confidence motion, signed by 23 lawmakers, was tabled in the Balochistan Assembly against Speaker Muhammad Aslam Bhotani. The motion was tabled by provincial health minister Ainullah Shams of the JUI-F. The resolution would come up for discussion and adoption on December 26. Opposing the move, two independent members Aslam Bizenjo and Zahoor Ahmed Buledi walked out of the house. At Present, there are 63 members in the Balochistan Assembly.

After the assembly session, Senior Minister Maulana Abdul Wasay, also of the JUI-F, accused Aslam Bhotani of taking "undemocratic actions". He said previously, three no-trust motions had already been averted against him, adding that this time, the entire would support the move. He said talks were under way with his party's allies for a new speaker. Deputy Parliamentary leader of PPP Ali Madad Jattak said that they had the required majority for a new speaker.

ANP's parliamentary leader Zamrak Achakzai said that the speaker's behaviour with members of the assembly was "not good", adding that the motion was a result of this. Later, Deputy Speaker Syed Matiullah Agha, who chaired the session, on Wednesday, adjourned the meeting till Friday.
